A strong work ethic will take you places!

A strong work ethic will take you places!
Employers seek it; performance depends on it; satisfaction is derived from it; and career progression is the fruit of it. What is it? A strong work ethic!

Employers seek it
It’s that intangible quality that star employees exemplify daily in their determination to do the best job possible—regardless of whether someone’s eye is on them or not. Why? They take pride in their work. A job well done fosters within them a sense of personal satisfaction and professional fulfillment. These are the kind of workers employers are eager to hire and promote. When an important project needs to get done, these individuals can be counted on, even if it means working longer hours to do so. A strong work ethic will not only expose you to greater opportunities, it will earn you a reputation of excellence in your profession.

Performance depends on it
Companies that want to hold a position of leadership in their industry know it requires talent with the skills and motivation to consistently produce outstanding results. The caliber of their workforce has everything to do with their performance. So, this becomes the standard that guides their hiring decisions. If you are an individual with a strong work ethic, you embody the qualities that will keep you in demand by top companies throughout your career.

Satisfaction is derived from it
No matter what profession you find yourself in, when you are skilled at what you do and people recognize it, there is a deep sense of satisfaction that wells up within you. It’s the result of knowing you have something valuable to offer and seeing your job—whether it is emptying the trash or closing a business deal—as an important part of the bigger picture. Individuals with a strong work ethic derive greater satisfaction from their work because they are fully engaged in what they are doing every day.

Career progression is the fruit of it
If you desire to advance in your profession, a strong work ethic will keep your career moving upward. Every employer wants an employee with this kind of mentality. Your willingness to work hard and give 150 percent will not go unnoticed. When the opportunity for promotion comes, you will be the one shining brightly at the top of the list.

By demonstrating a strong work ethic in your job, you’ll discover you are more marketable, in demand, satisfied and promotable than those content to watch the clock and collect a paycheck!

PR is correct, however, I believe it has to do with the exclusive online application process.  Phrases such as work ethic, dependable, puntual, etc., don't get any preference.  The computer generated models simply spit out the candidates that have experience in the field and are available.  Having a varied work experience works against you.  I have been looking for work in the Lake County, FL area for 18 months and the only call backs or interviews I am getting is when I get a face-to-face with someone who has a say in the hiring process.

Never do a half way job, always do your best in every job assigned to you and when you are done ask if anyone needs any help.  Good Hard Honest Work pays off not every time, but at the end of the day you will have pride in what you  have done.

That's right Tammy. Having a good work ethic is really a matter of raising the average bar. The stronger work ethic raises that bar, which in turn (more times than not) results in more positive outcomes (both for the worker and the beneficiary of that work). I like the point that those with strong work ethics do what they do whether they are being watched or not < and that means a good worth ethic is fortified by a high level of integrity >. Feel free to flip these comparisons for those that have not yet attained such a work ethic.

I agree. I have strong work ethics, I started my job in July of 2015 as a cashier and a stock person. Now I am a manager and this all happened within three months. I got my position as manager in October my manager saw that I am a team player who don't mind hard work or staying over and not watching the clock. He told me that I had good work ethics and will go far in my career.
