Preparation
What to do before the job fair

  • Research & prepare
    • Review a list of participating companies and determine which employers you want to meet. Employers dislike it when candidates come up to their table and ask, “So what does your company do?”
    • Visit the “Careers” section of each employer’s Web site and print out the positions that interest you.
    • Develop questions to ask each employer.
    • Print several copies of your resume on bond paper. Use a notebook or portfolio to carry the resumes.
    • Consider having business cards.

  • Personal presentation
    • Prepare your 30-second personal presentation (name, skills/areas of expertise, what you can provide/do for the company.)
    • Practice, practice, practice.

  • Interview questions
    • Practice responding to questions they are likely to ask in the interview.
