Spherion Professional Services Group, a national recruiting and staffing agency with a locally owned office in South Burlington, VT is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist for our client in Williston, VT.  This temporary, 5-month position has the potential for permanent employment on a part-time basis. This is a great opportunity to be part of an organization that is a national leader in manufacturing and distribution.  General Ledger experience and advanced Excel skills required.  This is a Part-Time position, 20 to 24 hours per week.

Summary:

 

The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for various aspects of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, assistance with the general ledger and supporting the Controller as requested.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

* Prepare and enter journal entries.

* Prepare and maintain account schedules.

* Research financial information for reporting and auditing.

* Analyze and reconcile accounts on a monthly basis.

* Calculate and process sales and use tax liability.

* Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.

* Assist with annual financial reviews and audits.

* Organize and distribute financial reporting.

 

Qualification


* Associates Degree in accounting.

* Minimum 4 years accounting experience with 2 years general ledger.

* Ability to evaluate technical data furnished in mathematical, diagrammatic or other forms.

* Strong mathematical skills, ability to compute interest, profit/loss, discount and interest.

* Ability to analyze cash flow and present value, ratio, proportion and percentage.

* Strong communication skills with ability to present information to management.

* Must be able to work as a team member to solve problems and exchange information.

* Ability to read, analyze and write financial reports and technical documents.

* Must have very strong Excel spreadsheet skills with analytical ability.
