Job Description

Responsibilities are quoting, booking, scheduling and coordinating shipments and packing/crating jobs, acquiring additional customers, researching and building relationships with agents, shipping carriers, insurance carriers, negotiating pricing and helping further develop the transportation network of our business.


Provide pickup, packing, crating, shipping, insurance and delivery
Dispatch orders to appropriate parties
Coordinate all elements of orders that require multiple parties, permits, deadlines and arrangements
Ensure timely delivery of all orders by tracking while in transit
Remedying any delays with agents, carriers or other appropriate parties
Immediately contact customers who submit requests for inbound quotes/shipments.
Monitor daily progress of carriers and agents and obtain updates from the carriers to ensure status
Keep customers up to date on the status of their shipment(s), possible delays, damages etc...
Return domestic quotes must be returned within 20 minutes
Return international quotes within 3 hours, when feasible
Monitor and keep up to date on third party insurance requirements/carrier declared value requirements
Process claims within 24 hours of notification
Collect claims documentation and disseminate it to the appropriate parties within required timeframes
Assist customers with all elements of claims filing
Work with inside sales team
Verify carrier/agent safety ratings & Verify carrier/agent service ratings
Responsible for verifying carriers/agents have proper operating authority
Sell a minimum of $20,000 in shipping related services per month
Find new carriers and agents to service the customer's needs
Build relationships with new carriers, obtain satisfactory rates
When appropriate, and get them to sign the Carrier Agreement
Hold carrier's accountable for at least 97% on time performance
Deliver sales presentations
Negotiate prices and credit terms with carriers
Investigate and resolve carrier and agent problems
Analyze carrier data to formulate strategies to better the relationship and improve capacity
Negotiate carrier and agent pricing, when applicable, to ensure highest net revenue
Monitor and evaluate the performance of carriers and agents
Report problem carriers and agents to management
Verify software pricing and database content
Keep all paperwork organized in designated Company cloud storage locations
Input all orders into Company CRM software
Accurately maintain quoted costs for bill reconciliation
Obtain billing information from carriers and agents to ensure proper billing
Double check charges after delivery and reconcile any difference with customers
May include other duties as assigned by Management
