Directs and supervises the cleaning of the plant production equipment and facility to meet food safety requirements as required by federal, state, and local regulations and by DFA to meet customer quality and safety standards. Ensures employees follow Company policies and procedures. Ensures that sanitation, quality and department efficiencies are maintained at or above standards. Supports the commitment and continual improvement to Food Safety and Quality programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain all sanitation programs, constantly evaluating the effectiveness and execution of these programs. Develop an auditing and inspection program for equipment that proactively prevents food safety issues.
- Direct, motivate, train, and instruct production personnel in cleaning production equipment and the facility. Works directly with production and quality personnel to solve problems related to the sanitation of equipment and product contamination.
- Conduct daily safety, sanitation, SQF, and GMP compliance inspections.
- Conduct final review of all documentation related to sanitation. Maintain a CIP manual on each sanitation activity and assess CIP chart accuracy through daily tracking on each circuit. Report compliance with the Master Sanitation Schedule to management of production and quality.
- Must have working knowledge of all CIP systems in the facility and keep track of any changes to the system(s).
- Is responsible for maintaining appropriate level and strength of sanitation supplies.
- Perform other responsibilities as determined by business needs.



- Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related area, preferred, with 3+ years manufacturing/sanitation experience
- High school diploma or GED and 4 -5 years of experience in production and/or sanitation at a manufacturing facility will also be considered
- 1+ year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Understand and have knowledge of chemicals used in the cleaning process; understand the manufacturing process and equipment parts/systems in order to ensure proper sanitization of equipment and efficient line startups.
- Ability to read MSDS, schematic diagrams of piping and equipment, and CIP pin charts.
- A thorough knowledge of the CIP systems and the HMI’s
- Must be able to problem solve and help to identify alternative/corrective solutions.
- Prioritizes work assignments and is self-directed.
- Must be able to complete work accurately and completely, and meet the standards of the MSS-program.
- Takes initiative when observing an unsafe act or condition.
- Must be able to meet the physical expectations of any Sanitation activity.
- Must be able to use hand tools to perform rudimentary equipment checks.
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office software, the AS400 operating system, and QA Studios.
