To evaluate, select, and monitor APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning) tooling sources for building dies and fixtures that meet customer quality and cost criteria.
General Job Duties:
o Responsibility for quality and conformance of product to customer specifications per control plans utilizing TS16949 & ISO14001 documented systems.
o Authority to stop non-conforming processes and reports same to supervisor,
o Quality Assurance and/or Engineering department representative.
o Develop and maintain qualified sources for subcontracting of tooling projects.
o Monitor project costs as well as timeliness
o Interface with customer's quality, purchasing, and engineering personnel
o Provide engineering support for the duration of the program
o Evaluate cost effectiveness and present justification to customers for replacement tooling projects
o Generate and implement Continuous Improvement projects
o Housekeeping and other activities as assigned
o Shop Improvements
o Tool development
o Standards & Safety
o Hot Runner , HYD
Specific Job Duties:
o Individual must have: mechanical drawing ability applied to CAD, Tool & Die Maker skills, Tool Design capabilities.
o Individual must be good at problem solving, have the ability to plan and manage the APQP process; understand customer requirements; have blue print reading and G.D. & T; effective communication with the customer, vendors, and associates at all levels of the organization.
o Individual must have the ability to conduct effective meetings; ability to read, write, speak English, must be flexible with schedule & overtime.
o Individual must have a background in injection molding and in the automotive industry.
o Ability to listen and communicate effectively with associates and customers in either individual or group settings.
o Ability to access data stored on LAN (Local Area Network) and PC (Personal Computer).
o Ability to use telephone; extended sitting and standing; ability to move throughout both facilities; reaching and bending.
o Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. may be required.
o Occasional travel with overnight stay required; compliance with personal protective equipment as required.
o Journeyman Tool & Die Maker preferred.
o Personal Computers, AutoCAD software, telephone, facsimile, copier, office equipment, precision measurement tools, machining equipment, PM’s, WO’s,Tools & spare parts.
o High school diploma or equivalent, degree required
o Technical Degree or 5 years’ experience in the tooling field.
