Spherion Emerging Workforce Study Overview

Nearly a decade ago, Spherion® launched the Emerging Workforce® Study, a research initiative designed to provide a comprehensive portrait of changes in the American workforce in the context of ongoing social and economic events. Since that time, Spherion has tracked the rise of an emergent workforce and the resulting implications for U.S. employers.

This latest issue of the Study updates and expands on trends uncovered in previous releases issued in 1997, 1999 and 2003. Building on the established themes of the traditional versus emergent worker, for the first time, research includes data from both employers and workers. This additional data allows Spherion to classify workplaces as emergent or traditional and provides unique insight into how employers are reacting to changing workforce trends. Crucial workforce issues such as retention, training and development, work/life balance and workforce planning are explored in great detail.

Below you'll find key resources providing additional Study findings and information.
