Monitor assigned accounts to ensure each account is on good credit terms with our company. Locate and notify delinquent accounts by telephone to solicit payment. Perform research and provide data in regards to account status.
> Identify, research, and monitor overdue accounts.
> Contact delinquent accounts by telephone or mail to solicit payment in a professional and courteous manner.
> Confer with customers by telephone to review the account terms and determine reasons for overdue payments.
> Persuade them to pay amounts due on their accounts or to return merchandise.
> Negotiate net terms and repayment plans when necessary. Evaluate account history and advise customers of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment.
> Receive payments and apply payment or credits to accounts to bring the account in good standings.
> Record information about status of collection efforts using a centralized database.
> Exercise judgment to determine if an account should be placed on hold or an account can continue to order product.
> Provide customer service to assist with account issues or direct them to the appropriate department to address specific issues outside the realm of this position.
> Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other team members throughout the organization.
> Perform miscellaneous clerical duties such as answering correspondence, creating basic spreadsheets, and sending demand letters.
> Regular and prompt attendance at work is a primary function and requirement of this position.
Working hours: 9-6pm
-High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
-Some previous training completed with a focus in Accounting or a related field would be helpful.
-Two to four years related experience in an accounting and/or collections role.
-Three to five years related experience in a customer service role.
-General knowledge of accounting practices and terms.
-Computer literate in a Microsoft Windows environment.
-Basic to intermediate level of experience using Microsoft Excel. Must have the ability to perform functions such as creating a spreadsheet, formatting a spreadsheet, using the formula bar, and calculating numbers.
-Basis understanding of an e-mail account and how to send, forward and reply to incoming e-mail.
-Accurate typing skills, approximately 30 words per minute.
-Accurate 10-Key by touch, alphanumeric.
-General knowledge of how to use a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, printer, telephone and various standard office equipment.
-We would really like for this person to be bilingual in English/Spanish if possible, but not required.
