Job Description

Our client, a business process company, has an opening for a staff accountant.
This role will be primarily responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely accounting of payroll, benefits and accounts payable transactions, and assurance that proper procedures and internal controls are in place for accounting and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis by published corporate deadline. These accounts will range from simple to quite complex in nature. Examples include AP disbursement bank accounts, accrued salaries and wages, payroll tax liability, accounts payable accruals, and other benefit liability accounts. The team owns approximately 7 bank accounts, 10 accounts payable liability accounts, and 35 payroll and benefit liability accounts
- Proactively communicate with business partners to research and resolve reconciling items and outstanding issues related to payroll, benefit, and accounts payable
- Reconcile payroll results from subsidiary ledger to general ledger for all domestic subsidiaries on a monthly basis
- Processes inter-company transactions related to payroll and stock and reconcile inter-company postings to ensure compliance to policy each month
- Determine appropriate methodology, calculate and prepare journal entries to ensure payroll and benefit data is reported in accordance with GAAP. This includes bonus accruals and payouts, other compensation accruals, ESPP program, M&A deferred compensation, and employee stock exercises
- Analyze employee receivable and accrued compensation balance sheet variances quarter over quarter and identify key drivers
- Prepare for two annual benefit audits (401k and ESPP) including the preparation of all working papers and related financial statements, disclosures and supplemental schedules
- Respond to ad hoc inquiries regarding proper accounting for payroll and benefit transactions and support compensation/benefit accounting policies and guidelines

Required Experience & Qualification requirements:
--Good command of written and spoken English
--Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience post Accounting Qualification achievement
--Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field
--Knowledge of Pivot tables and strong ability to manipulate large volumes of data
--Recognized Accounting Qualification (e.g. CPA, CA, etc.)
--Experience in Shared Service Center/Outsourcing environment
--Knowledge of Microsoft systems, processes and tax structure
