Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Be an Accountant for our client who works in partnership with the state of WI! Our client is looking for a Full-Time Accounting Professional to work in a temporary role for up to 12 months helping them review documents, maintain records according to GAAP, and perform general accounting tasks.

Work hours 7:30 - 4:00, Monday through Friday

- Reviewing and processing award documents for Federal, State, Corporate, and Nonprofit Sponsors
- Establishing and maintaining financial accounts, journals, ledgers and other records within an automated and/or manual financial system
- Interpreting and analyzing financial data
- Producing various accounting reports
- Allocating revenue and expense amounts to appropriate funds
- Interpreting and applying relevant policies, regulations, or procedures
- Reviewing and approving sponsored fund expenditures
- Performing internal and external account reconciliations
- Maintaining records and reports according to General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Developing and maintaining grantor agency relationships
- Serve as a liaison, act as key adviser, prepare and present reports, etc.

Working hours: 7:30am - 4:00pm

- Bachelor's in Accounting or equivalent training and experience (e.g. analysis of financial statements/reports, balance sheets, auditing, governmental and fund accounting, cost accounting, etc.)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills

- Government grant/sponsored funding accounting experience
- Five years of experience analyzing, forecasting, projecting, and reporting accounting and/or budget information in accordance with GAAP
- Five years of experience utilizing complex automated accounting systems (e.g. develop reports using accounting systems, review accounting system transactions, participate in maintenance and system development of financial systems, monitor and correct coding errors, etc.)
- Experience in analyzing, writing, and creating financial policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP
