Job Description

The Accountant provides financial information by researching and analyzing accounting data and
preparing reports. Review and recommend changes to existing procedures and develop new
procedures as needed. Perform internal audits in compliance to GAAP. Develop reporting tools
for efficient and effective delivery of information to management. The person in this role serves
as a key resource for the organization and provides daily financial oversight to ensure that the
financial records are complete, accurate and comply with generally accepted accounting
principles, policies and regulations to facilitate solid decision support.

Responsible for proper financial system project coding to general ledger (G/L) accounts and
transactions to maintain individual grant project identities for complete monitoring and
reporting of each grant.
Assists auditors annually to review reconciliations, providing data required for the audit. (The
Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards).
Completes month end tasks (journal entries, reports, TFBO imports, reconciliations, etc.) and
prepares financial statements according to standard NAA procedures and GAAP rules.
Responsible for the month-end review, research anomalies in budget to actual variances and
corrects monthly allocations as needed.
Responsible for year-end financial statements and reports.
Assists in the production of Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and budget
documents using appropriate software.
Assists in the preparation and submission of the annual FAA Comprehensive Annual
Tracking Summary (CATS) report.
Supports and assists the manager of finance and administration.
Responsible for maintaining capital assets according to standard procedures (acquisition,
depreciation, disposal, reconciliations, etc.) and assists in the development of Capital
Improvement Projects annual budget.
Provides service to those contacted in the course of duty in an effective, efficient and
professional manner.
Must be physically present to work as member of the team to serve customers, visitors and
staff who may need unscheduled assistance.

Working hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions
and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Expert Knowledge of Accounting Principles - In addition to basic accounting principles
has extensive knowledge of internal controls, audit procedures and GAAP.


4-7 years

Must have expert working knowledge of accounting principles. Must have full working
knowledge of computers; accounting and office software. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft
Excel required.
Minimum 5 years of government business management accounting experience.
B.S. Degree in Accounting.
MBA and/or CPA preferred.
Knowledge of accounting principles and ability to analyze financial statements.
Working knowledge with general ledgers, chart of accounts and financial statements.
Excellent computer skills, to include knowledge of accounting software programs.
