The material handler position reports directly to the Materials Manager and must work in coordination with co-workers to be effective. This position is primarily responsible for the movement of materials throughout the plant.

-Maintain production by keeping materials stocked to each assigned area as needed by the operators. Includes raw materials, skids, totes, bins and any other materials as needed. Will move and assist in changes of dies as needed.
-Move WIP and finished products to appropriate areas as needed by the operators. Store and retrieve all WIP in the proper locations with the proper identification. Move all stock to the warehouse and place in correct warehouse locations.
-Notify material personnel of material shortages as needed.
-Use of RFID system when appropriate; use without exception when it is required.
-Cycle counts or weigh counts of particular materials as needed.
-Coordinate with scheduling when applicable.
-Keep production areas clear of material, finished products, tubs, skids and any other items that may need to be moved.
-May also fill in as needed in production areas.
-Must complete all safety checks when needed including daily forklift checklists.
-Will empty scrap containers as needed to appropriate locations.
-Paperwork and computer transactions when required.

-Strength, agility, movement: Work requires occasional lifting, bending, pulling, climbing, reaching or kneeling. Work includes frequent movement within the facility.
-Sensory ability: Hearing must be sufficient to communicate by telephone, vision must be sufficient to read printed reports and items on the computer screen.
-Communications: Verbal communication is frequent; much of the time is spent exchanging ideas and information with coworkers.
-Level of exertion: Work is occasionally heavy, with regular exertion up to 40 pounds and occasional exertion of up to 60 pounds of force to handle materials or equipment.
-Reading: The position requires reading ability at a level sufficient to read text of considerable difficulty, requiring understanding of complex rules, technical procedures, reports, specifications, manuals or interpretations.
-Writing: Writing skills are required at a level consistent with basic communication.
-Verbal Skills: The position requires verbal skills at a level consistent with providing clear and concise information on technical matters.
-Mathematical Ability: Math ability needs to be at a level consistent with calculating rates and proportions.
-Reasoning Ability: Reasoning ability needs to be at a level consistent with solving apparent problems through well established procedures. Requires some independent judgment, as when dealing with safety issues or equipment issues.
