Job Description

Spherion is looking for Assembly candidates for a SHORT TERM (1-2 month) assignment for a metal fabrication facility on the North-West side of South Bend, IN!

Openings are on the following shift:

1st Shift - 7am-3:30pm (OT comes in at 5am)
2nd Shift - 3:30pm-12am (OT untill 2am)

The Assembler is responsible to productively assemble component parts according to work instructions and prints and accurately record the transactions in the client's inventory system.

All employees are charged with providing assistance in generally similar duties when management deems it necessary. Special projects and activities may also be created where employees' talents can best be utilized.

The Production Assembler reports directly to the department supervisor.

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Production Assembler is to ensure bill of material components are brought together in a safe, accurate, efficient manner according to work instructions and blue prints. May help by unloading parts from machines.

Other responsibilities may include:

- Lifts component parts up to 20 pounds and hardware boxes up to 45 pounds
- Joins component parts together by rotating nuts and screws
- Packages assembled parts as required
- Accurately and efficiently enters completed assembly counts into the ERP system
- Safely uses small automatic hand tools to secure bolts
- Labels finished product accurately
- Keeps assembly areas free of debris and empties trash bins as trained
- Counts work in process inventory locations
- Reports inventory shortages to supervisor

Working hours: 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM

Skills:
Ability to hand count
Ability to learn to use inventory scales for small hardware components
Ability to control small automated hand tools

Education:
High School

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
Must have hand/air tool experience
Must have previous assembly experience
Must have longevity in prior work history
