Job Description

Come start a rewarding career at GKN Aerospace and make things that fly! Under direct supervision, perform a variety of standard, generally repetitive, manufacturing activities involved in the fabrication, assembly or machine operations required to manufacture composite parts or assemblies.

Responsibilities:
- Follow general instructions, drawings, specifications, standard practice and recognized methods to perform operations needed to produce prototype and/or production composite parts, components and assemblies.
- Work with engineering personnel to develop techniques, tooling and/or methods and procedures to produce new, complex and/or modified composite parts, components, and assemblies.
- Measure, weigh, and count products and materials using visual, scales and precision instruments.
- Assemble parts, fittings, or subassemblies on aircraft by using layout tools, power tools or fasteners, such as bolts, screws, rivets or clamps
- Assemble prototypes or integrated-technology demonstrators of new or emerging environmental technologies for aircraft by following product specifications
- Attach brackets, hinges, or clips to secure or support components or subassemblies by using bolts, screws, rivets, chemical bonds, or welding
- Attach swage fittings onto cables by using swaging machines
- Splice seals by using tube to reconnect with bonding material
- Ensure proper fit and clearance by cutting, trimming, filing, bending, or smoothing parts
- Join structural assemblies, such as wings, tails, or fuselage by following work order specifications

Working hours: Various Shifts Available

Skills:
- Requires a thorough working knowledge of aircraft airframe metal and composites manufacturing processes and tooling.
- Requires the ability to rapidly read and interpret complex blueprints, mylars, operation sheets and specifications.
- Requires an understanding of ISO 9001 Quality System principles and requirements.
- Requires effective written and verbal communication skills and a working knowledge of personal computer operation, word processing software, spreadsheet software and MRP systems.

Education:
High School

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
- Must show stable work history (minimum one year at current or previous employer)
- Ability to work 2nd and 3rd shift
- High school diploma or GED required.
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in manufacturing is required
