Job Description

Under the direction of the Benefits Supervisor, responsible for the day-to-day administration, communication and for maintaining the technical aspects of benefit programs.

Responsible for administering, facilitating & explaining benefit programs to employees. Including handling walk-ins and telephone inquiries, directing employees to appropriate resources. Investigates and resolves complex benefit issues. This includes assisting employees with enrollment, open enrollment, filing claims, COBRA, explaining appeal processes, new pension enrollments (cash balance & 401K). Acts as the liaison with third-party administrators and insurance companies as needed. Maintains and updates the pre-paid legal enrollment file. Notifies the applicable vendors of new enrollments, changes and discrepancies. Researches and reconciles any discrepancies found by the vendors. Monitors and update compliance issues as it relates to our group health programs, recommending changes. Inputs the fringe benefit deductions into the payroll system.

Responsible for ensuring that dependent eligibility on new hires and life event changes are documented appropriately with either marriage certificates and/or birth certificates and if applicable the affidavit of domestic partnership documentation showing proof of the partnership.

Administers the Housing Assistance Program and all commuter programs, such as communication of programs, acting as coordinator and verifying eligibility of commuter rewards and process awards.

Responsible for determining eligibility for the 401K Plan.

Responsible for Evidence of Insurability process and life insurance claim process.

Prepares and distributes monthly Benefit Highlight and quarterly benefit newsletter.

Working hours: 8-5pm

Minimum: Associate's Degree or 4 years Human Resources experience with emphasis in Benefits Administration.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in business-related field.

Preferred: Certified Employee Benefits Specialist, PHR (or similar Human Resources Cert).

Minimum: Minimum of 55 WPM, proficient with Microsoft Office 2010 (70%), and experienced as an end user of an HRIS system. Practical understanding and knowledge of benefit programs.

Minimum: 4 years Human Resources experience with 2-3 years direct experience in benefits.
Preferred: 5 years benefits administration experience.
