Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To perform technical duties within the field of civil engineering for all areas of work as assigned, with specific emphasis on site civil, water resources (e.g., drainage, flood control, dams and impoundments, etc.) and wastewater system design.

1. Performs technical work in the fields of civil engineering including data collection, data analysis, modeling, conceptual design, design computations, cost estimating, drawing and technical specification preparation, documentation preparation, and construction observation required to complete company projects within time and budget constraints under the direct supervision of a professional engineer (DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION EXPERTISE).
2. Serves as onsite project representative and reviews construction to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
3. Field investigations/field sampling including preparation, cleanup, and documentation under general supervision of Project Manager (PM) (FIELD SKILLS).

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

4. Data entry, editing, analysis, plotting, file manipulation, and application of existing computer programs (e.g., AutoDesk Civil3D, hydrologic and hydraulic models, other CAD, spreadsheets, statistical analysis, GIS mapping, word processing) under general supervision of PM (COMPUTER SKILLS).
5. Uses education, intelligence, experience, and common sense to independently resolve problems within a project team framework and perform tasks assigned.
6. Communicates project and company related information to in-house personnel and clients:
a. Writes letters, memos, technical reports, and summaries.
b. Orally communicates project findings in meetings.
c. Make in-house technical presentations.
7. Efficient time management.
8. Follows company policies and protocols including but not limited to safety, QAQC, and contractual terms.


1-4 years

- Basic technical skills in the area of civil engineering, ability to function independently, effective communication skills and basic management skills.
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited four- year college or university with 3 to 7 years of relevant experience; or Master of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited
four-year college or university with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Must have passed Fundamentals of Engineering examination and be registered as an Engineer Intern (EI).
- Professional engineer in the state of Arkansas or ability to become licensed within approximately one year.
