Job Description

The Clinical Operations Pharmacist is responsible for external and internal utilization management strategies. This position shall assist with plan reviews; set-up and implementation of clinical programs; assist with plan and participant communications, where applicable; work with Account Executives to provide clients with measurable clinical outcomes; support creation, set-up and maintenance of all utilization management (UM) programs.

Essential Functions

Develop, implement and oversee clinical programs and outcomes (e.g., adherence programs, disease specific care management, medication reconciliation, etc.)
Recommend, initiate and manage prior authorization and step therapy changes
Communicate with key departments to support clients
Participate in implementation of new clients
Conduct utilization reviews and cost analyses
Implement and perform medication therapy management (MTM) services for identified patients, including documenting care delivered and communicating essential information to the patient's healthcare providers
Implement and perform retrospective drug utilization reviews (rDUR) to identify opportunities to enhance compliance with clinical practice guidelines and evaluate cost-reduction opportunities
Serve as a drug information resource for internal and external customers
Provide support to the sales team
Participate in the pharmacy and therapeutics (P&T) committee
Recommend, initiate and manage formulary changes in accordance with P&T Committee decisions
Adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures
Perform other duties, as requested

Working hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy degree obtained from an accredited college or university
Active pharmacist license in good-standing in state of practice
PGY1 residency and minimum one (1) year of clinical experience or no residency and a minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience and American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) board certification
Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in pharmacy benefits management (PBM), health plan management or Medicare/Medicaid experience
Preferred Qualifications

ACCP board certification, or willingness to obtain board certification within three (3) years of employment
MTM certification, or willingness to obtain certification within three (3) years of employment
Experience developing and implementing system tools
