Job Description

This is a mid-level craftsman position that reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is responsible CNC operations, of a highly reputable non-automotive mfg. company here in the River Region.

Essential Job Functions:
- Unless otherwise directed, operates CNC equipment and tools in an efficient, proper and safe manner; when necessary, operates drills and saws to produce stock required to sustain machine shop operations.
- Produces high quality parts with minimum supervision and within specified tolerances; selects and uses the proper measuring devices/tools for specified gauging.
- Understands internal customer requirements; produces high quality parts and performs electronic, visual and manual quality checks.
- Supports the operating philosophy of the Company including its policies and procedures; sustains a productive work ethic and caring attitude.
- Punctual, dependable, cooperative and responsible; assists in self-development and in the training of others when asked.

Performance Standards:
- Correctly reads and understands shop drawings and blueprints.
- Correctly sets-up machines to specified measurements.
- Produces high quality parts; practices quality checking and quality control.
- Uses good safety techniques; has a good safety record.
- Sustains/increases knowledge of materials and products.
- Sustains knowledge of stock including properties and sizes.
- Sustains/increases understanding of machinery and tools.
- Sustains/increases production efficiency; decreases waste and maintains good scrap control.
- Reflects proper care and use of machinery and tools.

Working hours: 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma (or G.E.D. equivalency) is required; some vocational/technical training is desirable.
- Computer experience/programming experience in similar type production machines is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2 years experience is preferred.

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Ability to operate manual lathes, manual mills, and other related equipment to fabricate parts.
- Ability to perform standard shop computations.
- Ability to read schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
- Ability to assemble, repairs, and modify scientific equipment.
- Ability to read, understands, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to read and understand measuring instrument
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
