Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Communications/PR Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time/Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Communications and Vice President of Marketing and Strategy

JOB SUMMARY: Provide administrative and program support to the Communications Department to implement VSB's PR and communications programs.

Candidate will monitor press clippings database, respond to media requests for information and fact-checking as needed, assist with tracking and reporting of public relations activities and results, track expense data for communications department, research and write story ideas and pitches as needed, manage PR magazine library and other subscriptions, provide administrative support to the marketing department for promotions and events, assist with social media influencer tours by helping to secure members and sending out recap reporting, assist with other general office administrative duties, and complete projects as assigned by communications department and film commission.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as a strong attention to detail, organization, and time management. The ability to multi task and prioritize in a fast paced environment is essential for success. Candidate will act from behind the scenes and should have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. In addition, our ideal candidate will have excellent research, fact- checking, writing and editing skills.


1-4 years

Qualified candidates will have a basic knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, HTML coding, Dropbox, and will be Microsoft Office proficient. Familiarity with Santa Barbara South Coast attractions is preferred. PR knowledge and experience is a plus! Must have a valid California Driver's License and auto insurance, and must have a vehicle for use to travel as needed. Candidate must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends if needed, and must be able to lift 40 lbs.
