The Computer Science Faculty Chair is responsible for obtaining industry input on current technologies, software development methodologies, and industry best practices in order to evaluate and redesign the curriculum taught in our client's Computer Science Bachelor Degree program. The CS Chair is responsible for educating students in accordance with an outlined teaching methodology, which focuses on active learning and engaging students in the learning environment. As part of educating students, the CS Chair is responsible for grading and providing valuable feedback to students in a timely manner, mentoring students in groups or individually, redesigning and evaluating curriculum, developing coursework and materials, and other activities related to effective instruction.
RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Performing the roles outlined above in the following subject areas:
Programming concepts and standards for C# and the .NET framework, Java, and/or C++
Topics may include desktop application development, multi-user or web applications, and application data persistence management, scalable/distributed system design, software design, operating system design, programming language design, algorithms and data structures, computational theory, etc.
Other faculty chair responsibilities as defined by the Director of Academics
Working hours: M- F, 8 am - 5 pm
QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a deep understanding of Computer Science theory including: Operating system design, programming language design, algorithms and data structures, etc.
5-10+ years' experience working in software development teams and/or managing teams
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science related field is required
Master's degree or higher in CS or related field or equivalent industry experience is preferred (industry certifications a plus)
2-5+ years' experience in management and leadership roles preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with peers and students
Conflict resolution, team building, and team management skills
