Job Description

Outstanding collegiate institution, a pillar in our community, is seeking a dedicated and talented Controller to join their team in support of the College's mission.

Reporting to the Vice President for Business Services/CFO, the Controller is responsible for managing all day-to-day
accounting functions, including, but not limited to:

-general ledger
-cash management
-financial reporting
budget development/control
accounts receivable and accounts payable

The position is further responsible for:

-maintenance of the general ledger
-year-end audit, tax return, and financial statement preparation
-campus compliance with Federal and State regulations
-general campus accounting policies and processes, and internal control over financial transactions and reporting

The Controller works closely and collaboratively with the CFO to achieve a strategic, academic-centered
approach to accounting principles in support of the College's mission.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

* Provide leadership, supervision and direction for personnel assigned to the Business Office.
* Performs accounting and finance procedures as directed and in accordance with established best
practices, policies and procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles.
* Stays abreast of changes in financial management and advises supervisor on desirable operational
adjustments due to changes in policies, procedures, rules, regulations and law as applicable.
* Prepares and maintains financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
* Reconciles and maintains schedules for all general ledger accounts.
* Assists in analyses and coordinates the annual external Financial Audit.
* Prepares and maintains grant fund account reconciliations and details.
* Assists in the development and maintenance of an effective system of internal controls.
* Develops, implements, and monitors accounting goals and objectives for the College.
* Devises innovative strategies, policies and/or programs for goal attainment and process improvements to
reach department objectives.
* Regularly assesses program functions to assure compliance within operating rules, regulations, policies
and procedures; advises supervisor promptly of any programmatic irregularities.
* Assures the management and integrity of all fiscal data in compliance with all applicable state and federal
laws, rules and regulations.
* Develops relationships and maintains effective communications with diverse groups


1-4 years

Five to ten years of similar experience, a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field. College financial or not-for-profit experience is highly preferred. A high level of integrity, honesty and ethical standards are valued qualities that the ideal candidate will possess.
