Job Description

Database developer with SQL Server 2012/2017 expertise desired to support vehicle diagnostic tool applications and code coverage development. Design, modify, develop, write, implement and maintain Database objects. Supports and/or install development tools/software applications. Adequate experience to work with SQLite and Firebird database technologies. Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Understanding of database technologies: standards, concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Perform a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Create and Maintain programming database standards:
-Assist in the development and oversight of enhanced programming standards for database engineering

Database program coding:
-Design and develop database programming templates and constructs that will be used within the database development team as well as participating in regular database programming activities.

Coding Reviews:
-Participate in program code reviews on database objects so they align to programming standards and re-usability.

Support and Mentoring:
-Provide for ongoing support and mentoring to our internal or external customers on database technology and programming construct standards to maintain a high level of quality and consistency
-Publishing SQLite database, Firebird database, XML data files and custom formatted data files based on custom requirements.
-Schedule and monitor database publishing jobs.

Data Validation Checks and Error Reporting:
-Write database utilities like SSIS/SSRS to validate data.
-Validate data on daily basis using automated processes/ utilities, and report errors to concerns.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Perform task with very little/ no supervision.
Communicate with each level in engineering organization with an understanding that each level has different focus and job function so engineer is expected to adapt the communication accordingly
Clearly communicate challenges or road blocks on given assignments in a timely manner
Actively participate in review meetings
Document database development tasks/projects, and communicate progress to team lead.
Self-adjust to changing requirements such as time or budget restrictions or changes to customer requirements


4-7 years

BS in Computer Science/ Information Technology, or related field

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Database Developer
In-depth knowledge of RDBMS (SQL Server 2012/2017).
Experience with SQLite- and Firebird database technologies.
Entity Relationship Diagramming skill and knowledge of database design tools such as Visio.
Excellent data analyst and architecture skills
Transact SQL coding experience.
DTS/SSIS programming or equivalent ETL tools and techniques for data movement/ transformation.
Strong analytical, problem resolution, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills
Understands complex and advanced database concepts, considers business aspects of problems, recognizes opportunities for expanding business services, has had involvement in development, and is proactive and preventive in problem solving
Able to work independently or cross functional team on multiple project assignments
Experience with IT development or software engineering practices or techniques like SDLC, Source Safe Controls (SVN)
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of databases using tools like SQL Profiler, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, Index building, Query Analyzer.
