Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development's primary responsibility is to secure sufficient funds for the sustainability of the program. This position requires the initiative and ability to cultivate new donors while providing stewardship to current and past donors. A close working relationship with the Executive Director and Resource Development Committee is imperative to the success of the position.

The primary responsibilities of position include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage development efforts to generate charitable gifts each year by satisfying benchmarks as identified by the Resource Development Committee. Benchmarks that may be included but not limited to: new donors, increased giving, and number of contacts made
- Develop and execute annual development plan and fundraising strategy to be approved by the Resource Development Committee and Board of Directors
- Plan and manage annual giving and major gift campaigns, planned giving, individual giving and corporate donations to include winter and spring appeals
- Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective and current donors
- Lead the Resource Development Committee's efforts to identify and implement fundraising initiatives and prepare a calendar of all target dates for fundraising activities
- Ensure the donor database is accurate and updated as necessary and recommend changes when needed
- Work collaboratively with staff and volunteer committees on special events and external communications.
- Actively participate in community organizations to develop relationships through networking
- Attend evening and weekend functions as necessary.
