Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Distillation Operator is to manufacture products ensuring they meet food safety and food quality requirements while meeting the customers' needs.

- Understand function and operation of distillation equipment and associated utilities including vacuum pumps, packed column and condenser, mixers, scales, control valves, mass flow meters, boiler, glycol chiller and cooling towers.
- Charge, process, and empty distillation columns according to the batch instructions
- Manually sample, label and transfer distillation fractions in to the specified packaging (drums, pails, spun aluminum containers, etc.) or pump into designated holding tanks.
- Familiar with plant HACCP plans and control points. Monitors control points and documents on a batch basis.
- Complete inventory transactions on distillation batches in IREN/ERP System and supplement batch data in Excel as required.
- Operate and monitor multiple pieces of equipment at a time.
- Keep accurate and detailed records and complete distillation logs.
- Understand all Job Safety Hazards and comply with all department and plant Safety, GMP, Sanitation, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Working hours: Sunday - Saturday 9:00pm - Finish (4 days / 10 hour shifts)

- High School Diploma/GED
- 3 months distillation related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Able to communicate (verbally and in writing) in the English language.
- Able to follow good manufacturing practices, work safely and achieve results in a team environment.
- Able to follow company time and attendance policy
- Communication, organizational and planning skills
- Able to perform mathematical calculations (i.e. percentages, fractions, etc.)
- Computer skills literate; able to perform data entry for distillation processes into computer software - IREN, Excel and RSView.
- Must have mobility in all areas of the plant including confined spaces.
- Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at least 40 feet.
- Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
- Able to perform several tasks concurrently in a fast paced environment.
- Understand principals of distillation.
- Understand physical properties of raw materials and intermediates used and produced by distillation
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including overtime and weekends as required
