Job Description

Spherion is conducting a search for a person to lead the Environmental, Safety and Health team for a client in the Central South Carolina area. The successful candidate will be responsible to take the lead on all aspects of this important function for our manufacturing operation. The ability to work within a highly sophisticated team environment to facilitate the implementation of the strategy outlined for this plant is critical.

Provide a high level of technical and operational recommendations in multiple value streams by:
- Being the recognized leader of resources and expertise in delivering solutions to maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Management of resources, including contractors, consultants and company professionals to evaluate the conditions of the facility and develop corrective actions, where necessary, to eliminate non-conformances in company and regular=troy processes.
- Facilitating and collaborating with all internal departments and complex project teams
- Become a lead in supplier development by understanding business needs through continual monitoring of the EHS policies.
- Compliance with all aspects of company policies regarding the specific duties and responsibilities of the facility including the current QMS, goals as applicable and coordination of efforts to comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Lead implementation of EHS programs for this specific facility as required
- Assist other team leaders in meeting customer expectation by conforming to systems that invest in cost containment and reliability.
- Significant knowledge in US Federal and State regulations as experience in OSHA, TSCA, DOT etc.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

- Strong understanding of supplier measurements and goals in a manufacturing setting
- Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
- High Level presentation skills to effectively share success and ideas
- Customer-focused in defining quality and establishing priorities
- Ability to Lead in a 24/7/365 production environment


1-4 years

- 4 Year degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- 2-5 years of experience in managing Environmental, Health and Safety within a manufacturing facility.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment demonstrating self-starting and hands-on capability
- Demonstrated understanding of Lean principles as related to EHS
- Professional Certifications
