Direct Hire!!! Electrical purchasing experience needed for the career position.

Located in Elkhart, Indiana our client is an electrical and plumbing wholesale distributor that has been in business since the late 1940's. The company average seniority level is 16 years!!! This position will be accountable for ensuring proper inventory levels are maintained for the four company branches. A thorough understanding of electrical systems and parts highly desired. (RV/MH wire configurations, lighting, etc.) The ability to work independently, but also a part of a team, with people on all levels is needed. The selected candidate will be driven to achieve goals, to effectively analyze problems, to determine appropriate action for resolution and to make timely, educated decisions.

Working hours: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

The main duties and responsibilities will include:

--Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
--Ability to maintain a solid and long-term relationship with vendors.
--Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
--Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts and/or lease agreements with suppliers, vendors and other representatives.
--Execute sales or other financial transactions.
--Knowledge of imports and items with very long lead times.
--Prepare purchase orders, prepare bid requirements, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
--Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
--Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations.
--Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
--Prepare financial documents, reports, or budgets.
--Analyze data to assess operational or project effectiveness.
--Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, operating strategies, organizational policies, plans, or procedures.
--Develop cost reduction strategies and savings plans.
--IBM AS400 with Mincron software helpful.
--Must be able to work with other managers and internal personnel.
--Assist on customer phone calls and counter sales.
--IBM AS400 with Mincron software is helpful.


1-4 years

Prior electrical wholesale purchasing highly desired. A Bachelor's preferred, but not required.
