Burlington, VT. This is a full time, ten month contract. Must have experience with Recycling Initiatives, working with Recycling Plants, and will be excellent at communication, organization and collaboration.

The Environmental Sustainability Consultant identifies and maintains key recycling and industry relationships to advance acceptance of polypropylene (PP) containers at curbside as well as a strategy of stimulating end markets and polypropylene recovery. The Consultant contributes to evolution and execution of the engagement strategy.
Represent and lead within industry forums and a PP/Small Item Recovery Working Group. Attend forums, build relationships and gather information to determine how to keep up with market trends.
Perform flow and optimization testing for PP/Small Item Recovery Working Group to establish recovery baseline, enable recovery goal setting and meet/exceed goals over 2020 time horizon.
Testing and recovery 3rd party endorsement. Track product through recycling centers and analyze results. Engage with 3rd parties around results, work with them to explain the data in various public settings.
Support community recycling programs and communication via partners. Help with NGOs and industry engagement. Gather information and collect data, for example-are our communities able to recycle product. Work with Sustainability Partnership Manager to communicate findings.
Establish and manage relationships for use of post-consumer recycled content across product portfolio. For example, build relationships with outside companies who clean recycled materials to be like new and use that material in our products.
Working hours: Full Time
Minimum 5+ years of overall work experience.
Experience with Recycling Initiatives and working with Recycling Plants.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred (discipline is flexible).
A passion for social and environmental sustainability and responsibility.
Aptitude at navigating a matrix environment in order to facilitate response/action.
A team player with ability to work well across organizational boundaries at all levels.
Excellent organizational, coordination skills and strategic problem solving.
Professional level collaboration and communication skills.
Ability to effectively present data and findings.
