Our client, a custom home builder on the Southside is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper for a growing accounting department. Ideal candidate will ideally possess a BS/BA in Accounting or Finance with 2+ years of experience and/or have a minimum of 10+ years experience working in a bookkeeping capacity. The Bookkeeper will perform a variety of general accounting and administrative transactions in support of three local retail locations. This position will create financial reports from information relating to those transactions.
Responsible for entering basic general ledger entries
Perform monthly reconciliations of specified general ledger accounts
Perform monthly analysis of specified general ledger accounts.
Perform all accounting and reconciliations for retail stores
Prepare monthly financial reports and accompanying schedules, in a timely manner
Pay quarterly sales tax for retail stores
Send statements to and collect payment from charge account customers monthly.
Manage cash counters for retail locations and balance daily counts to bank statements.
Work with CPA to file accurate and timely tax returns
Maintain an orderly filing system
Provide clerical and administrative support to management
Work alongside the Accounts Payable Department
Assist with special projects as needed
Working hours: Monday - Friday
-- College degree in accounting or finance preferred
-- Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles.
-- Strong analytical and accounting skills.
-- Knowledge of relative accounting systems preferred (Continental Accounting System, FAST, and others as they apply)
-- Must have advanced experience with Excel
-- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects, simultaneously, in a deadline driven environment.
-- Must be able to prioritize work with competing deadlines and have the ability to adapt to change.
-- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
-- Collaborative working style and ability to develop/sustain productive work relationships with key employees across all areas and levels of the organization
-- Minimum 2-3 years accounting experience
