Job Description

HR/Benefits Accountant serves as the primary administrator of companies employee and retiree welfare benefits program (Pension Plan).
Primary responsibilities will be the Pension Plan total management and all tasks associated.
Coordinates and reconcile payment of quarterly investment management fees.
Provides overall management of the Pension Control Environment and recommend changes and improvements as needed.
Leads tax reporting compliance as it relates to IRS Code Section 6055 and 6056. Manages Form 5500 extension request and ultimate filing
Reviews pension plan designs and recommends changes to plan(s) to reduce risk and liability associated with cost of plan designs.
Works independently with benefit providers to implement approved design changes.
Prepares reports and exhibits related to annual renewals for Board presentation.
Establishes and maintains relationships with insurance companies, SME
Works with HR Manager, Services Division, plan Actuary, plan Trustee, plan investment advisor, and plan Counsel to fulfill the duties of the Plan Administrator.
Calculates ad hoc retirement benefits as-requested by employees and terminated vested.
Conducts final retirement meeting with employee and beneficiaries; validates and executes required paperwork in accordance with internal control guidelines.
Serves as coordinator and point-of-contact for annual external audit. Monitors and reconciles quarterly Trust Fund statements.
Monitors and reconciles benefits elections versus enrollments.
Coordinates and manages retiree medical and dental enrollment and renewals.

Minimum Education requirements include:
4 year degree resulting in a

Bachelors degree in Human Resource benefits and/or Accounting/Finances and/or Management related

3-7 years related work experience administering employee and retiree benefits.
A relevant graduate degree may be partially substituted for experience.
Experience administering a single employer pension plan


Advanced expertise using Excel is a REQUIRED.
