Job Description

Our client, a local industrial company has an opening for an Estimator. Qualified candidates should have an Associate's degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or engineering; as well as a minimum of three years' experience in Estimating. This position will be responsible for gathering, calculating and compiling data for use in estimates and preparing routine estimates under general supervision.

Pay: $18-24/hour DOE
Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm

- Prepare accurate quantity surveys and estimates as assigned
- Complete assignments in agreed upon time frame
- Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier quotations or scheduling input as required for the assignments
- Participate in plan review and estimate reviews for respective projects
- Assist in compiling historical cost data for projects
- Confirm list of sub-contractors/suppliers proposing on the project
- Collaborate with Architects/Engineers to request clarifications or additional information
- Estimating leadership responsibility for projects, as follows:
- Complete pre-construction survey and other preliminary documents
- Perform majority of quantity surveys and pricing estimates
- Complete general conditions
- Prepare vendor proposal comparison and estimate summary sheets
- Conduct plan review
- Develop and complete project schedule
- Become familiar with estimating software

-Associate's degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or engineering or equivalent experience
-Three years of estimating experience
-Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
-Must be able to read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or governmental regulations
-Must be able to write reports, business correspondence and document project activities
-Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients and customers
-Must be able to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors
-Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area circumference and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
-Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
