Job Description

Spherion Professional Staffing is working with a specialized manufacturer in the Temple, TX area to find an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, replace, install, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical machinery and equipment used in hazardous chemical production. The types of equipment you will be working on include heat exchangers, chillers, cooling towers, air dryers and compressors, centrifugal & positive displacement pumps, reactors, valves, agitators, reverse osmosis equipment, and instrumentation such as flow meters, temperature & pressure gauges, and other process monitoring equipment.

Based in beautiful Central Texas, about an hour from exciting Austin and approximately 2.5 hours from the DFW, Houston, and San Antonio metroplexes, Temple offers the convenience of big-city living with a small town feel.

Your primary responsibility will be to support production and quality efforts by minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring proper operation. To do this you will need to do the following:
-Complete preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and chemical production machines
-Locate problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, using precision measuring and testing instruments.
-Remove and replace defective parts by dismantling devices and using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools
-Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
-Assists in reducing machine downtime by training Operators on routine preventive maintenance and observing compliance.
-Fabricate and repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
-Maintain equipment, parts, and supply inventories
-Order additional and replacement parts to re-stock inventory by anticipating future needs and verifying receipt
-Exercises efficient work methods by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
-Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
-Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
-Support and Perform Safe Work Practices

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:10 PM

On a daily basis you will verbally communicate the status of work orders and maintenance projects with other Machine Operators, Production Supervisors, other Maintenance Techs, and company leadership.


1-4 years

-Prior experience with industrial equipment maintenance
-Previous experience with industrial electrical and instrumentation maintenance
-Previous experience troubleshooting industrial production equipment
-Knowledge of safe working practices
-Knowledge of basic power tool safety
-Welding, metal cutting & grinding experience

-Experience with hazardous chemical operation strongly desired
-Advanced knowledge of safe working practices in hazardous chemical handling and operating procedures
-Welder Certification
-Pipe-Fitter Certification
-Millwright experience
