Job Description

A couple Continuous Improvement Project ideas are to be implemented in 2018 by utilizing an Engineering Intern to continue the work currently started by staffed Manufacturing Engineers. Some support and mentoring will be provided by existing engineering staff and production personnel. The schedule for this internship is flexible and will depend on what the selected candidate is able to work. The length of the assignment depends on completion of the assigned projects (approximately 1000 hours). Direct hire opportunity is possible upon completion of the assignment, but is not guaranteed.

The ideal candidate is someone currently enrolled in college, working toward a Manufacturing Engineering or related program, and is preferably in his/her 3rd or 4th year completing their degree. This position will work primarily on projects relating to tooling and standardizing descriptions. More information about these projects is listed below.

This position requires US Citizenship or must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, satisfactory results of a background check, drug screen, and completion of an audiogram.

Skills:
Project 1: Defining Machining Tool Kits in Oracle
-This project is to create tool kit BOMs in Oracle for all the parts machined in the Waseca Machining Departments 3151 & 3152. These tool kit BOMs would provide valuable information as to what tools are used on what parts as well as utilize a supported information system, Oracle, to manage the tool kits.
-50% of the current tool kits are stored in the outdated & unsupported TechniCrib software. 50% of the tool kit information is stored on the shop floor on hard copies only (no digital back-up).
-The Intern would be able to execute the defined project plan with little support from engineering and moderate support from production personnel.

Project 2: Standard Tool Descriptions
-This project is to standardize our tool descriptions in Oracle. Utilizing standardized and attribute detail information in tool descriptions with will provide better clarity and understanding of what tools we currently have. This improved knowledge will make managing our tooling inventory and finding the right tool for the job easier and more efficient.
-This project has been started by Brian Fabian and is in the very early stages of defining the description scheme. Once the description scheme has been defined, the Intern would be able to execute the project plan with little support from engineering and production personnel.

Project 3: Standardize Component Descriptions
-This project is to standardize our component descriptions in Oracle. Utilizing standardized and attribute detail information in component descriptions with will provide better clarity and understanding of what components we currently have. This improved knowledge will make managing ECOs, Production Planning, Processing, & Containment easier and more efficient.
-This project has been started by Brian Fabian and is in the early-to-mid stages of executing. An Intern would be able to execute the project plan with minimal support from engineering.
