Job Description

Junior Plastics Process Engineer

This position performs general engineering tasks that optimize processing capabilities of the facility through process development and verification, utilizing engineering methods and techniques. The right candidate will report to the Process Engineer and Engineering Manager. This is a direct hire position and pays up to $70,000 yearly salary.

Engineering & Design Core Competencies include: turnkey program development & implementation, centralized program purchasing & planning, conversion of existing part materials to plastic, FQA validation, tool/part design, prototyping, mold floow analysis, software: solidworks (3-D), high-speed automation & robotics, unigraphics (3-D), pro/engineer (3-D), autoCAD (2-D)
CADKey (3/2-D), mold flow part advisor, and more.

Manufacturing Core Competencies/Capabilities include: ISO 9001 certified, FDA registered, GMP compliant, 50- to 600- tom press range, in excess of 100 presses, class 8 clean room/white rooms, insert/multi-material/stack/thin wall molding, multi-component assemblies, high-speed automation & robotics, ultrasonic welding, packaging/lining/decoration, inventory/logistics control, silos for purchasing leverage, certified vendor base, in-plant tool rooms/teams, and more. 

Skills

-Develop optimum molding processes on new molds.
-Ability to produce product compliant with customer specifications, minimize sensitivity to material variation efficiently.
-Identify limitation and provide recommendations on reducing product nonconformity and increasing product efficiency associate with the mold, process, or equipment. 
-Develop and establish manufacturing process parameters on existing molds utilizing established and innovative techniques such a mold balance analysis, gate freeze study, and relative viscosity study, ensuring stable, and repeatable processes. 
-Manage successful transfer of new products to manufacturing and process development competencies of personnel.
-Creates and maintains accurate documentation on all samples, processes, production items/problems and other necessary information.
-Maintains updated knowledge on methods, systems, and equipment to continuously improve quality and productivity.

Qualification

-Four year degree in Engineering or related discipline. preferably from an educational institution specializing in Plastics Engineering, or equivalent experience (5 years specific processing experience).
-Knowledge and understanding of modern injection molding techniques and processes.
-Familiarity with scientific analysis methods such as DOE, SPC, Mold Flow analysis, and FMEA.
-Utilization of systematic approach to solving problems through analysis of problems and evaluation of alternate solutions: use logic, mathematics, or other problem solving told in data analysis or in generating solutions. 
-Very high motivation and sense of urgency.
-Willing to commit to long hours of work and make personal sacrifice in order to reach goals, when needed.
-Ability to life in excess of 50 lbs to check height.
-Physical skills include, kneeling, sitting, and bending to perform the necessary maintenance of equipment.
-Proficient knowledge and understanding of chemistry, plastics, simulation, and analyzing processes, materials, development, and equipment/machines used to produce product.
