Job Description

Spherion Staffing is looking for a Lab Technician to work with a local client in Bismarck. The Lab Technician is responsible for preparing uncut lenses for the edging process and inspecting lenses to ensure they meet quality standards. Qualified applicants should be able to perform moderate physical activity, have excellent vision and fine motor control skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Dress Code: Jeans (Safety glasses provided)

Responsibilities:
- Block lens by attaching block/chuck to the front surface of the lens and properly aligning the lens axis according to lens specifications
- Receive work, sort, and prioritize based on next steps within the department
- Review work tickets to determine the appropriate block/chuck size will be applied based on special instructions, frame type, size, and lens material
- Inspect lenses for cosmetic defects, visually identify blocking axis lines, and ensure the block/chuck is attached accurately and securely
- Prepare blocks/chucks by placing the adhesive pad to the blocks
- Sort and pull frame cases as required
- Observe all company policies, rules, and safety practices, including maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Practice safe work practices at all times, including wearing safety equipment, reporting unsafe conditions, and participating in safety training sessions
- Participate in daily ergonomic stretches and follow position's ergonomic requirement

Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Ability to perform repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts
- Ability to frequently lift/move up to 20 lbs. and alternate between sitting, standing, and walking for the duration of the shift with occasional stooping, climbing, and balancing
- Ability to work with others and communicate effectively in both oral and written communications
- Basic reading and mathematical comprehension (including decimals) and computer skills
- Ability to analyze, use individual judgment, and multi-task
- Fine motor control/manual dexterity and ability to use close vision, color vision, depth perception, and adjust focus
