Job Purpose Summary:  
Assist in efforts to improve departmental plant efficiency and product quality. Assist in development and implementation of operation improvements, focusing on quality and safety. Collaborate with other groups as needed on process development projects.

Shift is from Monday – Friday, 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM, with occasional overtime

Qualification

Qualifications -
Experience and Education
  • Associate degree with commensurate work experience in chemistry field, or high school diploma and 5 years chemistry lab experience.

Functional and Technical Skills
  • Qualified candidates must possess laboratory, mechanical and math skills. Previous laboratory experience is preferred, with emphasis in analytical testing. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Willingness to learn new equipment and techniques.Ability to communicate and write effectively.
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry
  • Ability to stand continuously and walk frequently during the shift. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Perform quality testing on finished products and raw materials. Perform variety of routine and non-routine functions for polymer media testing, including analytical measurements, gathering data, and maintaining laboratory notebook with detailed data recording. Write Safety Data Sheets for various polymer products. Company will provide training in using ChemGes software for Safety Data Sheets. Experienced in Rheology testing and Particle Size Analysis testing. Training will be provided if there is no experience with these methods. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe laboratory, ordering laboratory supplies, cleaning equipment and disposing waste materials.The candidate will work closely with a Polymer Media Manager who will provide specific and detailed instructions regarding testing procedures, but the successful candidate will themselves be responsible for prioritizing their daily tasks and maximizing productivity. He/she will also be required to work independently and collaborate with Polymer Media operators, engineers, technical assistants, and/or project leaders.  Hands-on laboratory skills with chemicals, glassware, analytical techniques and related procedures.Assist Polymer Media department in product specification, analytical methods and/or process development or improvements.Assist Polymer Media Manager with in-house and on-site investigation of customer complaints and problems, with follow-up coordination of laboratory analysis and reporting in support of complaint resolution and/or process control.Assist in process trouble shooting and customer complaint investigation. Other duties as required by supervisor.
