Job Description

Loaders select and prepare equipment and tools and conduct vehicle loading and unloading activities in support of field operations. They work independently or as part of a crew to safely load and unload a variety of vehicle and trailer configurations including semi-truck/tractor and trailer combinations, heavy-duty dual wheeled flatbeds truck and trailer combinations, box trucks and passenger vans. This is a full time position requiring long hours on a varied schedule and weekend work.

- Ability to work a variable schedule including day and night hours, seven days a week
- Ability to work steadily in order to meet delivery timelines and project completion deadlines
- Ability to identify all inventory equipment and tools items; read order documents; select items in designated quantities; safely pull and move items from inventory storage locations; safely load items on vehicles and trailers; and safely secure items for transport on public roads
- Ability to safely unload vehicles and trailers and move unloaded items to appropriate processing locations or re-introduce items to inventory storage locations
- Ability to safely and appropriately handle materials by hand or mechanical means without causing damage
- Ability to safely operate straight mast shop, rough terrain reach and Moffet forklifts to safely move inventory items without accident or damage
- Ability to use and understand standard forklift and loading hand signals
- Ability to maintain situational awareness and safely operate in high traffic vehicular loading and unloading areas
- Ability to understand vehicle and trailer load weight and dimension restrictions and compute load weights and dimensions
- Ability to secure loads using a variety of sizes and types of ratcheting strap, E-Track and other load securement systems
- Ability to evaluate a load for safety based on knowledge of load securement requirements
- Ability to visually inspect and evaluate inventory items selected for loading for functionality to prevent non-functional items from being sent to a job
- If licensed and approved by company insurance, ability to safely drive vehicles and back trailers in yard areas (consistent with license class and insurance requirements)
- Ability to climb ladders up to 12??? tall
- Ability to climb on semi trailer loads and stand at 13???5?????? above ground to direct loading
- Ability to identify fall hazards and implement mitigating procedures
- Ability to wear and appropriately use specialized fall protection equipment
- Ability to appropriately handle equipment and tools with regard to safety and preventing damage
- Ability to wear all personal safety equipment required to safely complete individual tasks including hard hat, safety shoes, reflective vest, safety glasses, ear plugs and respiratory protection when necessary

Working hours: Various Shifts Available

- Reliability and punctuality in reporting to work on time; providing advance and early notice to the routing office if unable to make it to work
- Consistency of effort and attention to detail in working a job through to completion at a high level of quality and quantity to the satisfaction of assigned crew leaders, project managers and sales representatives
- Willingness to work as a member of a team and listen to crew lead direction
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment
- Compliance with company policies including all policies contained in the Health and Safety Program, the Commercial Vehicle Fleet Safety Program and the Employee Handbook
- Compliance with company dress and behavior standards; maintaining a clean and well-groomed appearance

High School

0-1 years

- High School Diploma preferred but not required
- Driver???s license and clean driving record; class A preferred but not required
- Pre-employment drug testing required
