Job Description

As a member of the store management team, a Lumber Manager plays an important role in all aspects of store management. This includes assisting in supervising store associates, inventory management, merchandising, attracting and developing talent, and most importantly ensuring great customer service.

?Coordinates Yard/ Warehouse associates and drivers workload, arranging duties, dispatch of product deliveries and pick-ups, yard and warehouse activities, and provides input of departmental needs
?Efficiently manages paperwork; ensuring timely submittal of requisitions for replacement stock, accurate data entry of returns, delivery notations, confirmation of inventory shipments/ receipts and other customer updates and follow-up
?Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
?Follow procedures for receiving and stocking of inventory
?Oversee customer service operations to ensure customer?s expectations are met or exceeded
?Continually seek to improve contractor loyalty and interaction by demonstrating a sense of urgency when it comes to all aspects of contractor orders and service
?Maintain a consistent on-time product delivery system
?Formulate and plan the execution of a ?projects list? to be completed, on a short and long range timetable, by the yard team
?Oversees the maintenance and cleanliness of the lumberyard, ensuring that stacks of wood stay neat and that the yard has a clean appearance
?Open communication with Store Managers regarding challenges, possible solutions, and business impacts
?Key Holder, which requires to lock and unlock the store for opening and closing
?He/she will act as the store manager when the store manager and assistant manager are absent
?Capable of running POS terminal both on-line and off-line, and upload offline POS transactions
?Knowledge of overall company policies, procedures, and goals
?Resolve or escalate customer complaints in a timely and satisfactory manner
?Count Cash and supervise or make up the bank deposit
?Be proficient in all store technology (i.e., ACENET, POS system)
?Prepare ?Accident Reports? for employees, customers and vehicles
?Prepare and present records of communication

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

--Ability to make calculations such as discounts, freight estimates, dimensional weight, invoices, and percentages
--Lumber and building material product knowledge-accurate with tape measure
--Strong leadership and analytical skills
--Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations
--Must be able to operate a computer (Excel, Word, Outlook)
--Must be able to operate fork-lift to demonstrate and /or load and unload lumber when needed
--Must be able to move from workstation to customer service counter to warehouse/yard frequently throughout the day
--Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
--Competency in placing special order
--Vast knowledge of hardware related products and home projects
--Willingness and ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs

High School

4-7 years

- 5+ years managing 10+ employees
- 5+ years lumber experience
- 5+ years retail experience preferred
- Must be able to operate a computer (Excel, Word, Outlook)
