Job Description

Responsible for managing the recruitment and screening of volunteer applicants; ensuring volunteers and volunteer staff receive appropriate training to remain competent and compliant in their positions including compliance with company policies and procedures; ensuring volunteer department staff complete scheduling/assignments timely to meet identified patient needs; and databases and required records are maintained in full compliance with regulatory standards. Responsible for the assessment of existing services available and their effectiveness in meeting the changing needs of patients/families/facilities. Responsible for the creation and implementation of new programs and services as needed to consistently improve the integration and utilization of volunteers in the organization's operations and services.

Responsibilities:
Instruct staff on their responsibility in following the Compliance and Ethics Program.
Actively recruits new volunteers through community involvement and outreach; raises public awareness of the company?s Volunteer department and the varied opportunities available to serve and assist.
Has a thorough understanding of the various volunteer job roles, responsibilities, and limitations.
Oversees and participates in interviewing, selection, and onboarding procedures of new volunteers
Participates in selection and training of volunteer department staff.
Plans and implements Volunteer Orientation and continued education/training programs to ensure compliance.
Ensures compliance with all required screening and orientation procedures with prospective volunteers before assignments are made.
Routinely assesses existing services and programs offered by the Volunteer Department, evaluating the quality of these services and if existing needs are being met.
Continuously creates new services and programs as patient/family/facility needs change including the training of volunteer staff and volunteers in goals, guidelines and expectations for each new program.
Creates and implements on-going education and training for volunteers focused specifically on their assigned area (Home care, PAWS< ALFs, Doula, Vigil, Children?s Services, Treasures, and so on) as necessary
Maintains updated knowledge of all state and federal regulations, Joint Commission standards effective the volunteer department.
Serves as a mentor to the volunteer department staff to provide continuous education.
Reviews and develops new competency criteria every three years for both staff and volunteers. Coaches and counsel?s staff and volunteers as necessary.
Manages and performs annual evaluations of the volunteer department staff; responsible for monitoring their productivity. When necessary, assists with processing volunteer requests and assigning volunteers.
Develops a plan for measuring and evaluating quality assurance and patient/customer satisfaction
Produces monthly statistical reports and other reports as directed
Communicates regularly with the VP of Psychosocial and Children's Services
Attends and participates in organizational committees, training and meetings as assigned.

Skills:
Requirements:

Computer Skills: Knowledge of basic typing skills, data entry and word processing software. Database software and general knowledge of e-mail is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise volunteer department staff.
BA degree with two-four years related volunteer supervisory experience.
Clinical experience (RN/MSW) in a healthcare environment preferred.
RN license or MSW preferred.
Valid Florida driver's license
Certification in Volunteer Management preferred

Education:
Bachelors

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
Computer Skills: Knowledge of basic typing skills, data entry and word processing software. Database software and general knowledge of e-mail is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise volunteer department staff.
BA degree with two-four years related volunteer supervisory experience.

Valid Florida driver's license
Certification in Volunteer Management preferred
