Job Description

The set-up Manual Machinist is responsible for fabricating precision-machined parts by setting up and operating a Manual Lathe/ Mill per work orders & blueprints.

Parts range from small to large made out of aluminum, stainless and carbon steel.

Responsibilities:
- Run and inspect first piece article; verifying if process meets requirements by using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers,
calipers, thread gauges, plug gauges, height gauges, dial indicators, protractors, etc.
- Under general supervision, calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of
cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on the machine.
- Use and enforce usage of proper methodology and cutting tools to produce quality parts that adhere to production and quality standards.
- Revise programs as needed based on the instruction of the Machine Shop Supervisor.
- Participate in troubleshooting on Manual programming and production related issues on the shop floor.
- Participate in preventative maintenance.

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Skills:
Minimum 3 years' experience in Manual Lathe/ Milling operation and setup. CNC experience is a plus.
- General knowledge of blueprint reading and inspection tools.
- Capable of using a forklift and crane.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate with others effectively in both written and verbal fashion.
- A proven work ethic. A willingness to learn. A commitment to safety.

Education:
High School

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
- High School Degree or GED
- Must submit to drug screen and background check

- Repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movements, involving gripping and wrist torquing
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job
- Able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and stoop for prolonged periods of time
- Everyday lifting up to 50 lbs
