Job Description

Spherion is seeking a Material Handler for our client in Cameron, TX. Our client is a furniture manufacturing company with a long history in Milam County. The ideal candidate will operate a powered industrial truck with a hydraulic lift to move heavy products. The candidate will be expected to check inventory, conduct product counts, tag products, use a handheld bar code scanner, and inspect and maintain equipment. The successful candidate will be able to operate a gas powered industrial truck in a safe and efficient manner. Additional tasks may include use of a shrink wrapper, and loading and removing goods from a truck. We're looking for a highly organized, methodical professional with the experience necessary to take our products to the next level in terms of safety, security and accuracy. This opportunity is a temp to hire position that has a beginning pay rate of $9/hour, and is an excellent opportunity for the right professional.

Responsibilities:
You will work in a manufacturing environment and ensure products and materials are delivered, in a safe manner, to appropriate areas of the factory. You will be responsible for ensuring materials are not damaged during transit through the factory.
You will accomplish your tasks by:
- Following written and verbal instructions.
- Operating a powered industrial truck.
- Maintaining concentration over a long period of time (6-8 hours).
- Identifying errors, damages, etc.
- Utilizing attention to safety precautions and practicing common sense.
- Using dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Skills:
- Operation and Control: Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Operation Monitoring: Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Coordination: Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
- Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Time Management: Managing one's own time and the time of others.
- Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Speaking: Talking to others to convey information effectively.

Education:
High School

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be willing to consent to background screen if necessary.
- Willing to submit to pre-employment drug testing.
- 1-4 years of manufacturing, production, or powered industrial truck operations.
- Ability to work for long periods of time (8-10 hours) in a non-climate controlled environment.
