Job Description

Join our international consumer products company in an Engineering Technician role! My client not only offers a progressive and high energy atmosphere, but also has a cafeteria onsite and lots of employee appreciation events! The Engineering Technician will support development efforts of small kitchen appliances in terms of product component design, development, prototyping, and performance measurement & verification. Under supervision of a senior engineer, works on the design and development of new product concepts and new processing methods. Decisions and work outputs of this individual will have impact on the success of new products regarding their manufacturability and competitiveness.

- Product development testing as it relates to the evaluation of the design to determine compliance with our internal requirements, consumer's perspective and UL or other agency listings.
- Design, develop, & verify new products and concepts including Performance Capability, Product reliability, & Manufacturing validation.
- Develop of new test methods and test equipment to support the evolving technologies in the consumer products.
- Work within specific project objectives and recommend appropriate technical solutions for new products.
- Perform DOE / ANOVA experiments to solve research questions with utilization of applicable Statistical software packages.
- Apply key NPD tools and analysis methodology throughout the product development and verification process. (FMEA, Weibull, FEA, DFM, DFMA, Rapid prototyping, CAD, & Stage Gate process).
- Perform root cause analysis on products returned from the consumers and communicate results of the investigation to the engineering and quality organization
- Interface with product development engineers to resolve technical issues.
- Development of Quantifiable Measurement methods followed by Benchmarking and Characterization will be a significant component of job responsibilities

- Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering required, bachelors preferred
- 2-4 years of relevant work experience
- Experience working in product testing and design of consumer products preferred
- Understanding of product development & design related to materials applications, failure analysis, materials characterization, and mechanical testing.
- Self driven hands on, with good communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a team environment, including cross-functional teams, and exert influence without alienating others.
- Strong problem solving ability.
- Ability to clearly communicate ideas, processes, and technical requirements through effective written, graphic, and oral methods.
- Basic understanding of Lean, Kaizen, & Design for Manufacturing principles a plus.
- Positive attitude with strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks.
