Job Description

Spherion Satffing has partnered with a local primary care office to find a Certified Medical Assistant to join their team! The Medical Assistant will provide accessible, coordinated, and patient-centered care. This position allows patients to have a more active role in their health care and is associated with increased quality improvement and patient satisfaction. The certified medical assisant is directly responsible for providing direct care within his/her scope of practice and in accordance with established primary care policies and procedures. The certified medical assistant recognizes and considers emotional, cultural, socio-economic, and age-related factors of the patient. Under the direction of the Medical Director, this position performs clerical and administrative support functions in addition to current Certified Medical Assistant duties. This position will be the liaison to the Medical Director and will require interaction with both internal and external executives and assistants to coordinate a variety of multifaceted administrative tasks.

Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Documents any patient questions or concerns for provider to note in electronic medical record.
Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary and documents in electronic medical record correctly.
Use Standing Orders to improve efficiency in patient preventative health screenings.
Assists Providers by helping with office procedures; administering oral and injectable medications, wound care, specimen collection, performing in-office lab and diagnostic testing, such as EKGs, spirometry, vision and hearing tests.
Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information up to date and confidential.
Provide patient education as directed by provider.
Schedule diagnostic procedures such as Mammograms, CT scans, MRIs and follow up appointments as needed, verifying times with patient, pre-certification and transmitting orders.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following established standards and procedures.
Maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
Keep exam rooms clean and stocked by inventorying stock and placing orders.
Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Enter data from monitoring and tracking systems such and vaccine and medication refrigerators, in-office testing devices and other quality or safety data.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
Serves and protects the primary care practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Serves as Preceptor in orienting, educating, and training all new and less experienced Medical Assistants.
Liaison for the Medical Director which will require interaction with both internal members of the staff and external members of the community to coordinate a variety of multifaceted tasks.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

1-4 years

Current Certified MEDICAL ASSISTANT certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Minimum (2) years medical experience preferred
Previous outpatient, primary care and electronic medical record experience preferred

Work is performed in a typical outpatient, medical setting. Requires manual dexterity to input patient data into electronic medical record. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires occasional overtime to complete tasks for the day. Requires working with patients of various ages and medical conditions which may include: pulling, kneeling, lifting and assisting patients who are physically handicapped at various stages.
