Job Description

Our client located in Downtown Jacksonville is seeking an experienced medical coder to perform physician coding and documentation review of daily charges for compliance. Responsible for monitoring schedules and reports for daily charge capture in order to ensure a continual revenue cycle. Ensures daily charges are exported to the contracted billing agency and audits exported charges to ensure proper billing based on compliance and billing guidelines. Reviews local medical review policies and physician coverage limitations to analyze billing requirements.

Essential Functions:
1. Performs physician CPT coding/documentation compliance review for provider's daily charges.
2. Reviews, analyzes, and performs daily charge related adjustments and/or corrections, performs CPT changes and adds appropriate modifiers if applicable.
3. Reviews and identifies specific guidelines, local medical policies, and CCI guidelines associated with radiation oncology billing.
4. Monitors schedules and reports for daily charge capture.
5. Ensures all compliant charges are exported daily, resulting in a continuous revenue cycle.
6. Locates, identifies and analyzes correct E.H.R. or paper documentation relating to charges.
7. Reviews and analyzes daily charge data in order to identify pertinent billing trends and/or abnormalities.
8. Performs comprehensive, detailed audits of patient charts for management review as assigned to include all findings, corrections, adjustments and a summary sheet for each account.
9. Acts as a liaison with physicians, medical personnel, and department personnel on required documentation so charges are released timely.
10. Prepares and creates needed supporting documentation for physicians for according to compliance guidelines.
11. Responsible for providing weekly reports on all non-exported charges, patients ending treatment, and other reports as assigned.

Must have working knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and medical terminology.
Must be able to type at least 35 WPM.
Ability to operate standard business equipment, e.g., copier, fax, scanner, etc.
Experience:
At least 2 years of healthcare experience in medical billing or related position required.
Prior experience in radiation oncology billing preferred.
Computer experience in medical billing required.

Education-High school graduate or equivalent required.
