Job Description

A leading provider of support services for the healthcare industry is looking for hardworking, organized, and knowledgeable Medical Collection Specialist to join their growing team! The representative is responsible for collections, account follow-up, billing and allowance posting for the assigned accounts. Internally, this company offers an exciting and fun environment with emphasis on providing the best, most effective and efficient services to their clients!

Follow-up with payers to ensure timely resolution of all outstanding claims, via phone, emails, fax or websites
Analyze and review the processing of insurance claims
Identify and resolve billing discrepancies and complaints
Meets and maintains daily productivity/quality standards established in departmental policies
Meets and maintains quality standards established in departmental policies
Uses the workflow system, client host system and other tools available to them to collect payments and resolve accounts
Prepare, review, and distribute patient statements
Send appropriate appeals, accurate requesting information, supporting documentation, and effective communication to complete recovery process
Act cooperatively and courteously with patients, visitors, co-workers, management and clients
Perform special projects and other duties as needed. Assists with special projects by utilizing excel spreadsheets, and the ability to communicate results
Use, protect and disclose patients protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

--Ability to analyze, identify and resolve issues causing payer payment delays
--Ability to analyze, identify and trend claims issues to proactively reduce denials
--Understanding of under payments and credit balance process
--Must be able to work independently as well as in a team
--Ability to identify and correct medical billing errors in a timely manner
--Must be professional and assertive in addressing and resolving unpaid claims
--Must be detail oriented and self-manageable with excellent organization skills


1-4 years

2 years experience in insurance collections, including submitting and following up on claims
Working knowledge of EOB's
Knowledge of Medical Terminology, CPT Codes, Modifiers and Diagnosis Codes
Knowledge of denied claims appeal
Multispecialty/single practice, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) or hospital experience
Must have 1 year experience of Physician/Professional Billing experience
Extensive knowledge of individual payor websites (Navinet, Novitsphere, etc.)
Must understand the importance of confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA regulations
