Job Description

We are looking for a Medical Records Technician/Receptionist to join our client's one-of-a-kind team. This individual will work for the client in a medical clinic. This client has a focus on putting the patient first and making sure they have a great experience. The Medical Records Technician position performs all duties involved in maintaining clinical records in compliance with statutes, standards, policies and procedures. Responsible for the accurate and time sensitive completion of all requests for the Health Information Department. Reviews requests, maintains records in electronic health record while ensuring Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant authorization is completed to send signed forms to third party requestors.

- Retrieve and re-shelve offsite records (as needed)
- Maintain and ensure the protection of records
- Respond to questions regarding confidentiality and the process for release of information
- Sends forms for completion and/or signature to appropriate healthcare providers.
- Process all incoming and outgoing medical record requests.
- Prepare and meter outgoing mail
- Maintain medical record filing from electronic portal to EMR.
- First point of contact, greeting patients to welcome them into the center to provide a positive experience.
- Utilizes computer system accurately/efficiently for patient registration, appointment scheduling and charge entry
- Communicates with providers, patients, employers, insurance companies as needed to complete tasks.
- Validates incoming requests to ensure HIPAA compliance and enter release requests into the release of information module within the electronic health record.
- Works closely with billing to process payments and send requested records in various formats including electronic fax and mail.
- Patient check-in/check-out; maintaining patient information in our Electronic Health Record
- Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM

High School

1-4 years

- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Relevant medical/clinical records experience
- Knowledge of confidentiality laws governing medical/clinical records
- Knowledge of medical records and electronic health records
- Good judgment, organization, and high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work well independently and as a team member
