Job Description

Spherion, in partnership with a local Production client is hiring for a third shift lab technician who would be responsible for conducting regular testing of their casting process, maintaining lab equipment, certifying customer quality requirements are being met, confirming daily production events through day file organization and maintaining a variety of data records. This position also provides data to support process control changes and manages calibration of Inspection, Measuring and Test Equipment (IMTE).

Responsibilities:
Assists in the implementation and execution of Laboratory processes and improvement projects.
- Performs laboratory testing, chemical and microstructure analysis.
- Conducts calibration and physical strength testing.
- Ensures that lab equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.
- Maintains daily production records necessary for process management and/or material certification.
- Determines and monitors appropriate parts and consumable stocking levels for the laboratory.
- Works with a team to determine and research laboratory equipment needs and purchases.
- Maintains a calibration database of laboratory and production equipment and part specific gauges.
- Writes customer material certifications.
- Provides feedback on lab process effectiveness to supervisor.
- Offers suggestions for improvements of operations or processes.
- Performs physical and cognitive demands promoting safety in the work environment required for this position.
- Attends work during regularly scheduled hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
- Communicates and interacts effectively and efficiently with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and customers.
- Conducts additional testing as required by process engineers.
- Assists in furnace sintering as needed.
- Participates in appropriate production management meetings and committees as interested.
- Performs other related work as assigned or apparent.
- Participates in professional staff development.

Working hours: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Skills:
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry
- 3 years of experience in laboratory
- Experience in documentation procedures
- Ability to work unsupervised and be a self-starter
- Ability to work well with others, both face to face and by using systems setup in the lab
- Organized, methodical, detail oriented and computer literate.

High School

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
High school diploma / GED


Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug-screen, physical, and background check.
Must comply with organizational and departmental policies including but not limited to a smoke and tobacco free property.
