Job Description

A company in North East, PA is looking for qualified candidates to fill openings in a packaging facility.  

Palletizer duties include:
  • Following direction from Shift Lead.
  • Knowing & understanding ALL Plant safety rules and regulations.
  • Avoiding ALL potential safety hazards and unsafe work practices.
  • Conducting self in a professional and courteous manner with management, other production workers and Maintenance staff.
  • Maintaining clear and effective communication with others.
  • Maintaining a TEAM attitude among fellow Employees.
  • Arriving at work as scheduled and on time.
  • Utilizing correct Personnel Protective Equipment including: hair net, ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves, face shield, goggles, etc.
  • Operation of all support equipment.
  • Continual housekeeping of the work area.
  • To inspect all packaging material (tier sheets, top frames, and pallets) for serviceability and cleanliness and notify the Quality Manger and/or the shift supervisor of any nonconforming or questionable product.
  • To ensure each layer is palletized properly, with no missing components.
  • To maintain an adequate amount of packaging materials at the Palletizer at all times.
  • To restock a full amount of packaging materials for shift change as necessary.
  • Ability to safely operate Palletizer machinery including bottle sweep and lanner.
  • Ability to correctly tag a full pallet of products.
  • Ensure that the date code is legible and correct.
  • To immediately notify maintenance and the shift supervisor when any repair, major adjustments, and/or replacement of parts are required.
  • When the line goes down, your first priority is to clean up your immediate area, then assist the operator in getting the line back up and running.
  • To assist the operator in all changeovers and PM’s as directed. 
  • To clean up your work area before leaving at the end of the shift.
  • Any additional duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification

  • Must be safety and quality oriented.
  • Must be able to apply basic mechanical knowledge and solve problems pertaining to mechanical equipment and product problems.
  • Must be able to perform basic math and reading skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Ability to frequently climbs steps.
  • Ability to frequently stoop and reach up, down and to both sides in manipulating product.
  • Ability to walk short distances around the equipment, interspersed with climbing and standing.
  • Ability to frequently push and pull up to 75 lbs of force.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 5-10 lbs of corrugate / top frames – infrequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to frequently use fingers/hands to operate and/or grasp controls, manipulate containers, top frames, tier sheets and other items requiring feeling and full hand use.
