Job Description

Our client is seeking a temporary, Legal Clerk to work 40 hours per week on a minimum six-month assignment. During this assignment, the Legal Clerk will be responsible for assisting the Corporate Litigation Paralegal with product liability claims and other claims and litigation monitoring, record keeping, reporting, discovery, fact gathering and building a case management system among other duties.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the management of product liability claims, CPSC notices and similar matters.
- Coordinate and gather information from engineering, customer service and various business teams to support active claims and litigation defense.
- Process a high quantity of emails and requests.
- Assist Corporate Litigation Paralegal on creating and maintaining a case management system with associated reporting and document management.
- Prepare memorandums, professional emails, Excel queries and reports.
- Review discovery requests and gather information as requested.
- Monitor and circulate new claims and suits as they are served.
- Download claims reports and match with claims. Follow up on additional supporting information.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with business teams, the Corporate Insurance Administrator, outside consultants and insurance carriers.
- Review documents and accurately enter associated data into internal systems.
- Work professionally with confidential information.
- Review subpoenas and collect records requested.


Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required. Area of study preferably pre-law, insurance or paralegal studies.
- Entry-level paralegal with some litigation experience preferred.
- Insurance claims experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Adapts to change. Open to new ideas, take on new responsibilities, handles pressure, and adjusts plans to meet changing needs.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Ability to communicate with company personnel, as well as external parties.
- Ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality.
- Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
