Job Description

This position performs and oversees all plating processing functions in accordance with the work instructions, plating policies and procedures, and employees of the Plating department per NADCAP standards.

Responsibilities:
1. Help develop and maintain the plating policies and procedures.
2. Assist in the oversight of the department and the employees including annual performance evaluations.
3. Set up, operate and troubleshoot plating tanks and solutions.
4. Read and follow work instructions and procedures.
5. Maintain required controls and records requirements.
6. Provide technical assistance to other departments and personnel on plating and finishing of parts.
7. Determine plating time by interpreting and understanding blue prints, technical data sheets, manual measurements and math calculations.
8. Prepare solutions used in the plating room, including the ability to create new solutions and identify the use and hazards of the chemicals involved.
9. Prepare and clean parts for plating.
10. Read and follow work instructions and procedures.
11. Prepare and clean parts for plating.
12. Short out parts by soldering, stripping and connecting wires.
13. Maintain basic plating room equipment by conducting simple repairs to cables and leads, cleaning work bars, changing filters, and cleaning rinse tanks.
14. Liquid honing as necessary.
15. Monitor plating baths for liquid levels; check PH, temperature and continuity.
16. Use X-Ray fluorescence machine for testing thickness of parts and solution analysis.
17. Complete all required trainings including but not limited to S.H.E (Safety, Health, and Environmental), Ethics, Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking, Quality and all performance/product related trainings.
18. Adhere to AS9100 and ISO procedures and ISO compliance.
19. Other duties as assigned.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
1. Knowledge of NADCAP standards

2. Knowledge of masking techniques using insulcast, tapes and stop-off materials.

3. Knowledge of parts inspection (microscope and visual).

4. Good math skills and understanding of basic chemistry preferred.

5. Understanding of metals and substrates, and the requirements for each substrate plated.

6. Basic understanding of waste water regulations and hazardous requirements.

7. Ability to read and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets in the use of chemicals.

8. Must understand AS9100 requirements.

9. Leadership skills.

10. Understand Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations.

11. Understanding of ITAR and EAR regulations (preferred but not required).

Level III requires full knowledge of the job; complete acquaintance and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job, and the practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Has substantial understanding of job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of routine and non-routine tasks. Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgement in resolving issues or in making recommendations. Resolves most questions and problems on own; works under general supervision. May assist in orientating and training lower level employees.
