Job Description

Spherion Staffing is looking for a Prep/Finishing Lead for a local client in Fargo. Duties in this role would be working with building products for doors such as trim/framing/panels etc. Qualified applicants must have pre-finish experience and knowledge of painting and staining steel, fiber classic and wood materials. Applicants should also have knowledge of lumber, plywood and building materials.

Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm
Pay: $17-22/hour DOE

- Brush, spray, or hand-rub finishing ingredients, such as paint, oil, stain, or wax, onto and into wood grain; then apply lacquer or other sealers
- Disassemble items to prepare them for finishing, using hand tools
- Fill and smooth cracks or depressions, remove marks and imperfections, and repair broken parts, using plastic or wood putty, glue, nails, and/or screws
- Mix finish ingredients to obtain desired colors or shades
- Remove accessories prior to finishing, and mask areas that should not be exposed to finishing processes or substances
- Select appropriate finishing ingredients such as paint, stain, lacquer, shellac, or varnish, depending on factors such as wood hardness and surface type
- Smooth, shape, and touch-up surfaces to prepare them for finishing, using sandpaper, pumice stones, steel wool, chisels, sanders, or grinders.
- Properly store inventory
- Maintain the working area and keep the general appearance of the shop in a clean and orderly condition
- Properly handle and care for equipment and pre-finishing materials
- Implement daily personnel utilization plan developed by the supervisor based upon production schedules
- Work closely with Production Scheduler to ensure all order changes, additions and expedited orders are completed in a timely manner
- Resolve all production issues daily with the help of the supervisor for respective shops
- Work with the supervisor to continuously improve processes to identify waste in the production process and develop solutions to eliminate the wastes
- Insure production personnel complete daily inventory cycle counts
- Insure production expedites any part outages/shortages
- Maintain quality control measures

-Pre-finish experience is required
-Must have experience using a variety of tools including: power tools, hand tools pre-finish equipment, door assembly and building equipment; packaging equipment; and hydraulic lifting equipment (forklifts, electric jacks, etc.)
-Knowledge of painting and staining steel, fiber classic and wood materials
-Knowledge of lumber, plywood, building materials, etc.
-Capable of completing forklift certification (company will provide)
